FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Basia Lyjak & The Mudmen
January 24th, 2008
Rock n' Roll Heaven
TORONTO, ON. - January 16, 2008 - Basia Lyjak is a straight up rock chick with catchy, well crafted tunes and simultaneously powerful, raw and technically skilled vocals that bring you back to a day when singing came from your heart and your gut, rather than a pitch corrector in a studio. With an all-star band behind her, it's impossible to deny that she's the sort of kick in the ass the music industry needs!
Put Basia's high energy together with The Mudmen, who are beyond unique in their hard driving sound onslaught... Centered around ripping bagpipes, the Mudmen have created one of the most mesmerizing rock performances anywhere! Joined by the punk-driven The Wrong Crowd, this show is sure to rock the brand new Rock n' Roll Heaven!
"Basia Lyjak has arrived at a time when we all thought stage and studio 'magic,' 'presence,' and 'charisma' had long since fallen off the pages! Rewriting the A&R chapters is easy but I really do feel sorry for the label execs that ran out of ink!" - Colin Lynch, Jimmy Stilettos Magazine
In the last year, Basia has accomplished a lot for a solo chick - she's released her second EP, "Writings on the Wall," developed a merch line with C-Squared Promtions, played with April Wine in a sold out show, filmed a video with John Holosko, and played festivals like NXNE 2007, MQMusic Fest and Rock For The Troops!
"There are only a few women that have rocked our world throughout the ages: Janis Joplin, Etta James, Heart, and The Pretenders, but guess what? There's a new chick that rocks my socks off, and her name is Basia Lyjak - and she kicked my ass! She'll be a force in rock n' roll, and once you hear her, you wont forget her... I haven't!" - Mark Hudson (Livin' on the Edge, Aerosmith)
As always, her all-star band will accompany her, featuring guitarist Ron Bechard of Sin Dealer, formerly of Edwin, bassist Dave Carreiro of Nigel's 11, formerly of Slash Puppet and drummer Glenn Nash of OzoneBaby and of Q107 house band fame. 2008 greeted Basia with awards for "Best Female Solo Artist" and "Best Song - Bye Bye," from IOM Magazine's 5th annual awards, and the band is inspired to rock hard and work hard to make this the year of the indie artist!
Doors 9pm, cover $12.
Look out for Basia at ElMocambo on February 1st, where she'll be playing with Drive Channel and From Other Planes!
