TORONTO, ON. - October 7, 2008 - The Hard Rock Cafe has chosen rock n' roll singer Basia Lyjak for their "PINKTOBER - Stop Breast Cancer For Life" concert series stop in Toronto. International spokeswomen include Melissa Etheridge and The Donnas, but Hard Rock headquarters has picked Basia, DAME and Scarlet Sins to represent and inspire strong women on October 24, 2008 at their 279 Yonge St. location. Tickets are $10 at the Hard Rock box office.

"Basia Lyjak is forcefully knockin' on fame's door, and tell you what -- it's about to open on up! Basia's a natural, and when you hear her you'll understand exactly what we mean! Fans of No Doubt, Queens of the Stone Age, Veruca Salt and other gritty acts will totally dig her powerful vocals and catchy, guitar-driven compositions." - MyxerTones.com

Basia has been on a break from gigging since August, making time to go into the studio to write and record new tracks to release in the coming months, following up the critically acclaimed 2007 EP, "Writings on the Wall," and 2008 single, "Don't Talk." Producer Norm Sabourin of Aqua Sound Productions has been on a songwriting and recording frenzy with Basia for the last couple of months, with one of the tracks, "Never Wanted Anything," to be debuted that night!

In addition, Basia is set to get back into the studio with "Don't Talk" producer Brian Moncarz at his brand new Rattlebox Studios, co-owned by producer David Bottrill (Tool, Silverchair, Mudvayne). Brian, Basia and the guys will lay down "What It Feels Like," the second track from Basia's writing sessions with Kyle Riabko. Two of these as-yet unreleased songs will also be performed on October 24th!

"There's a lot of attitude in the music Basia Lyjak writes, but she's not putting anything out there she can't back up. Her current EP bears witness to an artist mature beyond her years. The vocal prowess Lyjak displays on that EP and the strength of the original material she's penned point to a long run for her." - Doug Gallant, Canadian Musician Magazine

Later this month, Basia will be teaming up with Bandwagon Magazine to film a live interview, including some concert footage from ElMocambo shot by cinematographer John Holosko! Basia will also be working with Juno-award winner Nick Walsh (Revolver, Slik Toxik) and artist Dean Fraser, lending her voice for cover of Nancy Sinatra's classic, "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'!"

Basia Lyjak is the straight-up rock chick that's been missing from mainstream music since the heydays of No Doubt and Garbage - and media, industry and fans alike are taking notice of her powerful voice and catchy songs. With features in the Toronto Sun, Metro News, Canadian Musician Magazine, Myxtertones.com and interviews on Canoe Live! and OMNI1's Na Luzie, there's no question she's in demand. Now sponsored by ZenCG&C, Basia is writing the best material yet - stay tuned!

"Come on Canada, listen to Basia Lyjak! You don't know what you're missing!" - Jon Long, Long & McQuade Musical Instruments
