TORONTO, ON. - April 3rd, 2008 - "Arenas Anyone? This is a great track... kickass band. Vocalist is a star! This li'l nugget of a song is all there. To the point, energetic, and catchy. 5-Star. Go get 'em!" - GarageBand.com review of "Don't Talk"

With the success and enthusiastic response to Basia Lyjak's freshly released single, "Don't Talk," it's no surprise that she and the guys have been confirmed for North By Northeast 2008. Book FRIDAY, JUNE 13 off on your calendars and be at the Hard Rock Cafe early to catch Basia's 11PM set, because line-ups will be half way down Yonge St.! We're happy to be a part of NXNE for a second year, and honoured to play this great venue! Tune in to www.THATCHANNEL.com at 1pm on June 10 to hear an interview with, and acoustic performance by Basia, Ron and Glenn leading up to NXNE.

"There are only a few women that have rocked our world throughout the ages... Janis Joplin, Etta James, Heart, and The Pretenders... but guess what? There's a new chick that rocks my socks off, and her name is Basia Lyjak - and she kicked my ass! She's got the whole package. I think she will be a force in rock n' roll, and once you hear her, you won't forget her. I haven't!" - Mark Hudson (Livin' on the Edge, Aerosmith)

"Don't Talk" was entered into the GarageBand charts early last month and currently stands at #126 of 676 in Alternative Rock! The song, written with Kyle Riabko and recorded, produced and mixed by Brian Moncarz of Whirlwind Sound Studios, also won the award for Best Female Vocal for the week of April 14th and was Track of the Day and Best Lyrics for May 12! Not too shabby for a few weeks in the ranks!

The band has been on a mini hiatus from gigging in order to write and record some new tunes, so be ready for those at NXNE! One of the tracks is a ballad called "Stay," and it reveals a softer side and new, more profound dynamic within the band. However, some fantastic shows ARE coming up...

A reminder for Lee Aaron fans that Basia Lyjak will be opening for the Metal Queen on her Toronto "back to rock" tour stop at Rock n' Roll Heaven on July 25th! If you want tickets, get them sooner rather than later, because this event will be 100% sold out!

If you're looking for something to do with the family the next day, July 26th, join us for KPYO.net's Youth Day at Nathan Phillips Square, a day of music, art and dance, starting at 12pm. The event benefits the TY card, a points system for underprivileged youth that can be redeemed for popular merchandise, or saved up and used to purchase a FULL post-secondary education!

Basia will also participate in a Rock The Foundation showcase at Tattoo Rock Parlour on July 31st, a breast cancer awareness benefit! More details to come. This the year of the indie artist, and every industry seminar, workshop and music festival has been telling us just that. With her growing fan base, Basia's been proving them right all along!
