FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Basia Lyjak live at MQMusic Fest 2007

Phoenix Concert Theatre, Toronto ON

TORONTO, ON. - July 20, 2007 - Metal Queen Management, Long & McQuade, and Jagermeister present MQMusic Fest 2007, a chaotic 12-hour showcase of the best indie rock and metal bands Toronto has to offer, featuring up and coming Toronto rock vocalist, Basia Lyjak.

On August 19th, 2007, Basia will take the stage at Toronto's legendary Phoenix Concert Theatre, alongside artists like Edwin, The Mudmen, Crash Kelly, Revolver, Automan.ca, Ash Lee Blade, Scarlet Sins, Zeroscape and Automatic. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, and include access to every show, merch tables, giveaways and more!

"The majority of the acts will be home-grown Canadians, largely from Ontario. That's what this is all about: the Canadian scene, our Canadian talent. We have so much of it," says Metal Queen herself, Betty Dworatschek, of the line-up.

Basia is singer-songwriter from Toronto who just released her second self-funded EP, "Writings on the Wall." She just played NXNE 2007 and is looking to get on the road to promote her record with her band, which features guitarist Ron Bechard (of Edwin/Edwin & the Pressure and Three Days Grace), bassist Dave Carreiro (Nigel's 11 feat. Chris Kirkpatrick of 'Nsync) and drummer Ian Macchiusi (Rayna). A full-length video filmed by John Holosko is in the works, as well as a merchandise line with C-Squared Productions, and sessions with producer Brian Moncarz (Pilate) are scheduled for August. Look out for her on cover of the first-ever print edition of Jimmy Stilettos Magazine!

Says Elley Wilson of IOM Magazine: "Basia Lyjak has broken the mold, folks. This incredibly talented female rock practitioner from Toronto has emerged with a laughingly brilliant and innovatively excellent EP that rips at the very foundations of once sleepy North American rock and wakes the whole world up with the kinda force that could repair the melting ice sheets at either ends of the north or south poles!"

Basia is hoping to get the word out in the press about this great show in support of local artists, and she believes so strongly in it that sheÕs cut the price of tickets bought from her to $15 - better to see the faces of music lovers in the crowd than to make a quick buck!

Metal Queen Management is based in Toronto, offering management, promotion and PR worldwide. Long & McQuade is the largest chain of musical instrument retailers in Canada, with 26 locations from British Columbia to Ontario. Need we say anything about Jagermeister?
