BASIA'S NEW SINGLE Never Wanted Anything IS NOW OUT!

After releasing the FACTOR-awarded single "What It Feels Like" at NXNE in June, Basia is changing it up a little with the digital release of "Never Wanted Anything!" Co-written by Basia and Norm Sabourin of Aqua Sound Studios and produced by Sabourin out of the facility, the track's pop-rock catchiness is undeniable! Complete with Basia's signature soaring vocals and sing-a-long melodies, "Never Wanted Anything" would be just as home on CHUM FM as it would be on Edge102!

Performed by Ron Bechard (Sin Dealer, Crash Karma, Patrizia) on guitars, Dave Carreiro (Nigels 11, feat. Chris Kirkpatrick of 'Nsync, Slash Puppet) on bass and Glenn Nash (Ozonebaby) on drums, the track also features a wailing solo by Norm Sabourin and back-up vocals sung by the extremely talented Kim Davis!

Share with your friends! Email it, Facebook it, Tweet it -- help get it out there!

Basia has a new single coming soon! With the master being picked up from Joao Carvalho mastering today, we're getting VERY close to announcing a release date! The song, "Never Wanted Anything," has been on Basia's live set list for about a year now, but the final recording has quite a few twists that haven't been presented at shows! Co-written with Norm Sabourin of Aqua Sound Studios, it's a slightly different sound, but it rocks in true Basia style nonetheless. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the official release date and the announcement of a release party!

July 3rd, 2009 A review from Basia's 6 Degrees Club/Make-A-Wish benefit show is up!

They don't make 'em any more authentic than this. Basia Lyjak is a pure rock 'n' roll artist. Olivia and I were astounded at the performance she was able to belt out at her start time of 1 a.m.... Basia knows how to deliver a hard-core, in-the-moment performance - taking off her high heels shoes and singing barefoot, writhing in her lyrics while kneeling on the stage, and hitting unfathomable high notes....(read more)

Don't forget to listen to the new single, "What It Feels Like," and TELL US WHAT YOU THINK!

July 2nd, 2009

Here's a review blurb from Scott Sherman and Double Essence of Basia's NXNE gig:

Basia Lyjak at the Hard Rock Cafe: Her performance was nothing short of incendiary. Great songs, a crack band, dynamite looks, hooks galore. They blew the roof off the joint. You'll be hearing plenty from this self-styled "rock chick". Kicks major ass.

July 1st, 2009

Basia and the guys recently dropped by ToroMagazine's GarageBand studio to record a live off the floor performance and interview. The performance is up on this week's GarageBand segment, with the interview portion coming in a few days! Thanks to the team who made it possible!

"Steady rock rhythms filled the TORO studios when Toronto's Basia Lyjak played her single "Don't Talk" off the EP "Writings on the Wall". This is music like old times, with an appealing straightforward attitude that lacks any too-cool-for-school posturing. It's a catchy tune from Lyjak, and one that you might be whistling all day long."

"Basia Lyjak - Don't Talk: Not only does Basia already have a pantload of fans, she just keeps getting better and better. This one was co-written by a guy that's amazing in his own right, and one of my favourites, Kyle Riabko."

March 5th, 2009

Stephanie Cloutier at Soundproof Magazine wrote a blurb about Basia's Phoenix gig:

Sometimes the only way to address a serious message is through music.

Last Thursday, the Phoenix hosted a benefit concert called A Benefit Concert - Indie Style, showcasing a talented group of local musicians. Its purpose was to bring support to local organizations that are putting an end to youth violence. Charities such as UNITY and Future Aces use positive forms of artistic self-expressions to end violence in communities. It's no question that this is important, but what helps is that local musicians, up and coming artists, come out to show their support. SoundProof's Photo Editor Carmen Cheung and yours truly, were there in support of the event and have the pictures to show you....

The photographers' favourite was Basia Lyjak. The Canadian rock songstress shone through with her powerful voice flanked by her band of multi-talented and awarded bandmates. She showcased her old favourites such as "Don't Talk" and some new ones that have yet to be released.

....
