Basia Lyjak films music video for her hit "Don't Talk"

Over a dozen Toronto artists collaborate to showcase each other's talents!

TORONTO, ON. - January 14th, 2009 - "Don't Talk is a Chrissie Hynde meets Gwen Stefani post-punk/pop tune that dances over the edges of the modern rock precipice with a pop sensibility that's so strong it literally moves your feet for you!"- Wildy's World review of Don't Talk

Rock n' roll singer/songwriter Basia Lyjak has teamed up with a group of some of Toronto's most talented and unique artists to create a video for her single "Don't Talk." The track has won numerous awards (including its first 2 of the year on GarageBand.com: Best Female Vocals and Best Melody), gained Basia fans from all corners of the globe and garnered massive print, television, radio and online attention since its 2008 release. So it's only fitting to ring in 2009 with a visual counterpart as infectious and intoxicating as the song itself!

"Fiery rock diva Basia Lyjak is dropping jaws all through her native Canada. Her driving rock/punk vocals have made her a phenomenon in indie circles as she lays down one strong woman lyric after another. Though Basia looks like a model, there is nothing soft or snooty about this rock chick. She's gutsy and powerful, fronting a dynamite rock trio of Ron Bechard, Dave Carreiro, and Glenn Nash." - Skope Magazine

Those who have lent their talents include: Writer, producer and director Ryan M. Andrews (Blackguardism Creations), visual and makeup designer Stacey Laureyssens (theOriginalFace.ca), wardrobe designer and creator Mila Starr (Metal Star Fashion), cinematographer Carl Elster, still photographer Stephanie Cloutier, neck ruff designer and innovator Misfit Chic - who boasts Courtney Love as one of her best customers - and on-screen cameos from model Brian Weldon, Burlesque Cabaret Showgirl Coco Framboise and Chris Mysterion, Doctor of Mentalism. Heather Rae contributed her talents as a hair stylist and Daphne Tam rounded out the unbeatable makeup team. Ryan's amazing production crew included production manager Geoff W., gaffer/grip Simon Hughes, and editor Chris Cull. Thanks to ZenCG&C.com for making it possible! Really - it's no exaggeration that this project is the result of the city's best coming together to show the world what they've got in their respective fields, and it's this passion for unity and supporting your peers that brings life to art that may not otherwise have seen the light of day! Featuring 6 costume changes and exotic, out of this world makeup, this piece is NOT to be missed!

Set for release in the next two months, the "Don't Talk" video is just the beginning of what's to come: Basia has been writing with her band and tons of other amazing people, including Rob Laidlaw and Murray Daigle at MDS Recording, and gigs featuring brand-spanking-new setlists will be announced shortly.
