TORONTO, ON. - February 3rd, 2009 Ñ Rock n' roll singer/songwriter Basia Lyjak has been no stranger to charity gigs, having played two breast cancer benefits last year and donating door proceeds from the 'Don't Talk' release show to Sketch.ca. For her first show of the year, Basia joins the February 19th, 2009 bill for Silenced: A Benefit Concert Series, a string of shows designed to showcase local independent rock talent, while raising funds for organizations like Future Aces and UNITY through tickets sales and donations. Monday Rose, Sixes & Sevens and Captive Groves will join Basia to rock out for the cause that night. Tickets are $15 in advance from Ticketbreak.com, or $20 at the door.
You can catch Basia on CIUT 89.5FM tonight, February 3rd, for Howl (10-11PM) with Nik Beat and Nancy Bullis - Basia will talk about Silenced, being an indie artist in the current state of the industry, the new video for Don't Talk, who she's working with and lots more, including an acoustic performance! Although still rehearsing out of Glenn Nash's Candy Hammer Studios, Basia now has Juno-nominated drummer Dale Harrison on board!
