TORONTO - September 24th, 2009 - Guess Clothing has chosen Toronto rock n' roll singer/songwriter Basia Lyjak to open their "Rock The Block: Concert and Auction" fundraiser at the Steam Whistle Brewery, benefiting Habitat For Humanity! With over 1000 tickets sold, including all V.I.P. seats, this is the place to be on Sunday, September 27th!
While Basia and her band, guitarist Ron Bechard (Crash Karma, Sin Dealer, Patrizia), drummer Dale Harrison (The Headstones, Alannah Myles) and multi-instrumentalist Pat Kelly (solo, Parklane) perform a blend of catchy originals and both classic and modern covers, a silent auction and raffle giveaways will be underway, all going toward a very worthy cause. Prizes include concert tickets, sports tickets and memorabilia, alcohol gift baskets, Mac and Smashbox cosmetics, housewares by Kitchen Aid and much, much more! Among the performers joining Basia are Organ thieves, Tennfold and The 4 Korners Raptors DJ Crew!
Each ticket purchased will be entered in the draw for the grand prize of a vacation for two! This event deserves all the exposure it can get, so join us in making it successful while enjoying some drinks, winning some swag and meeting tons of great people!
Basia Lyjak is a straight-up rock chick whose catchy, well crafted tunes and tight, explosive vocals hark back to a day when singing came from your heart and your gut, rather than a pitch corrector in a studio. A tireless, passionate self-starter, BasiaŐs self-funded releases, "Writings on the Wall," "DonŐt Talk" and the FACTOR-funded "What It Feels Like" have been knocking down doors all year; those who hear her singable, rock-driven and empowering tracks cannot honestly deny their booming, radio-friendly potential. SheŐs been profiled in Canadian Musician Magazine, The Toronto Sun, Metro News, Uncharted Sounds, Fazer, Bandwagon Magazine, Toonage and dozens more with one general consensus: Basia Lyjak has a set of monster pipes on her and isnŐt afraid to let them rip. The last two years have seen Basia play TorontoŐs best clubs, perform at CMW, NXNE thrice and share the stage with artists like Alannah Myles, April Wine and Lee Aaron, to name a few. Her releases have been nominated for the TIMAs, the IOMAs, Toronto Exclusive Awards and numerous GarageBand.com awards, where Basia has repeatedly won Best Female Vocals, Track of the Day/Week, Best Lyrics, Best Melody, Best Beat and Most Rocking Tracks!
Basia continues to build her catalogue every day, with the release of a new track, "Never Wanted Anything" set for the next couple of weeks. To top it off, a music video for ŇDonŐt TalkÓ has been released to stellar reception, and Basia is preparing to score the soundtrack for the revolutionary www.TheGameCartel.com video game, as well as the theme song for the show "Jill and Stacey Do The Roo," proving just how much one person can achieve with endless passion and no fear of hard work. So much accomplished already, Basia Lyjak is ready to take on each day no-holds-barred, until the whole world hears her ROCK!
