Basia Lyjak live with Alannah Myles!

Toronto - August 12, 2009 - Toronto rock singer Basia Lyjak will be direct support for Alannah Myles at the 20th anniversary of the release of 'Black Velvet' at Johnny B's Nightclub in Whitby, ON(75 Consumers Dr.)! Basia is proud to that one of her own songs, "Don't Talk," (co-written with Spring Awakening's Kyle Riabko) has been recognized by the 16th annual Billboard World Song Contest for ranking in the top 1500 among thousands of submissions! This honour comes on the heels of a FACTOR grant and the release of the subsequent track and new single, "What It Feels Like," another fruit of her collaboration with Kyle Riabko!

Basia has spent the summer writing songs for new releases, as well as foraying into jingle work and scoring theme songs for video games, web TV and more with her band, and the projects are now coming to life! The launch date for The Game Cartel, the gaming industry's first ever series of player-designed console video games is right around the corner, along with the first trailer featuring music worked on by Ron, Dave and Basia. Taking its inspiration from online games, The Game Cartel lets paid members conceive, develop and vote on the direction of select commercially available console games.
